The 2020-2021 WV Statewide High School Business Plan Competition will offer a different way for students to participate while keeping true to its roots—a place for entrepreneurial students from across the state to connect, create, and start businesses. While the events cannot be in-person this year, we have created a virtual space that allows the energy, enthusiasm, ideas, and sharing to thrive.

The WV Statewide High School Business Plan Competition offers high school students around the state the unique opportunity to make their business idea come to life. Participants come from many different disciplines and backgrounds, and the competition is open to all juniors and seniors from any high school in the state of West Virginia. This year’s competition will be 100% online and be open to for-profit and not-for-profit ideas.

Tucker Workman, the 2020 winner said, “After participating in the WV Statewide High School Business Plan Competition, I precisely learned the functions of starting and operating a business. The High School Business sharpens your critical thinking skills and gives you a solid foundation for opening a business in WV."

The top 10 finalist teams will receive $1,000 for the teacher’s classroom and the opportunity to pitch their idea to real-life investors. The competition supports the students through the competition by providing workshops and coaches.
